Write reviews for laidout
- Reviews are sent via the ‘WRITE’ option on the homepage.
- We’d recommend reading a few reviews to get the general gist before submitting.
- Reviews should be informative and enthusiastic (we don’t want to hear why an album is bad, but why it’s good; what to listen out for)
any album can be reviewed as long as it was not released in the last 5 years (see 5 year rule on the homepage for more info).
- Reviews will be proofread, fact checked to the best of our abilities, and occasionally edited.
- There is no house style.
- Length of reviews is as needed.
the idea is that someone interested in, say, Neil Young can find a way into his albums; which ones to start with, maybe some context so that it can be understood on its own terms, and where to go after the more obvious choices.
It’s for people who’ve lived with an album for years and spotted things, developed theories about it, or just think its an under-recognised classic.
The views expressed in these reviews are solely the responsibility of the author and do not represent those of laidout.
